Youth Commission help to protect peers from sexting dangers
21 November 2016
The Youth Commission were invited to attend an event held by Hampshire constabulary on national children’s take over day last week. The event was a final of a communications campaign competition for students to pitch personal safety advice in a range of creative ways to peers and expert judges about the consequences of sexting.
Six schools were short-listed by the constabulary to give presentations at the final after more than 80 initial expressions of interest from schools earlier in the year. The Commission took part in the judging, alongside theNSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) and the National Crime Agency (NCA)’s Child Exploitation & Online Protection (CEOP) command.
The winners of the competition were a group of students from Robert May’s School in Odiham for their original animated concept that warned of nude and sexual pictures spreading like ‘Wildfire’ once shared.
The Commission’s own Sophie Smith took part in the judging, well done to her and all of the winners for taking part!
