Police and Crime Panel

The Hampshire Police and Crime Panel is responsible for scrutinising and supporting the Police and Crime Commissioner.

The Panel are hosted by Hampshire County Council – find the panel’s website pages here.

The Panel is made up of representatives from each of the local authorities in the Hampshire Constabulary area, which includes the cities of Portsmouth and Southampton, the eleven Hampshire Borough and District councils, and the Counties of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. In order to better meet the balanced appointment objective, three additional local authority members have been co-opted to the Panel following agreement from the Home Secretary. Two non-political members of the Panel are also appointed to add to the collective spread of experience and knowledge.

Meetings of the Police and Crime Panel are not considered meetings held by the PCC, but they are meetings for which members of the public are encouraged to submit questions as well as to attend the meetings.

Each year, the Commissioner responds to the Police and Crime Panel’s report on the proposed precept in the budget report.
