Safe on the streets
#Walkwithconfidence
Why have we chosen this priority?
Everyone deserves to feel safe on the streets and from our own experience as young people, we feel more needs to be done to make this happen. The impact of gang violence, knife crime, hate crime, stalking, ASB and physical threat and violence on our streets can impact our mental health and wellbeing and we want to make a difference.
What we will do:
- We will attend various community events to promote our Big Conversation
- We will look at stereotypes, Bystanders, victim/offender location statistics and the cost of crime.
- Promote case studies
- Raise awareness, promote organisations, projects and campaigns through Social Media
- Self-defence videos
- Link with and support Mental Health organisations.
- Work closely with the OPCC ‘s Violence Reduction Unit (VRU’s) and with partners
- Develop and present workshops in schools around safety, stereotyping, consequences, peer pressure, and the cost of crime.
Important dates:
ASB week 3rd to 9th July 2023
