New Petersfield Police Station reaches significant milestone
25 February 2025

A topping out ceremony has been led by the Police and Crime Commissioner, Donna Jones, to mark the halfway point of construction for the new police station in Petersfield.
Renovations to transform the old Barclays bank in The Square are on track to finish by the summer. The new station will be open to the public to report crime, get updates on cases, and seek advice and support.
Visiting the site on Tuesday 25 February 2025, PCC Donna Jones said: “I am delighted with the progress of the new police station for the people of Petersfield. Policing needs to be in the heart of communities directly serving and engaging with members of the public.
“Having a new permanent base in Petersfield town centre will increase police visibility and help build the vital relationship between police and communities that underscores British policing. I am looking forward to the summer to celebrate its official opening with the community.”
District Commander for East Hampshire, Chief Inspector Alex Charge, said, “I am really pleased to see great progress being made on the new police station here in Petersfield.
“The new location means bringing the local policing team back to the town centre, and I believe this will have a very positive impact on our ability to engage with the community and provide the best possible service to residents, visitors and businesses in the area.”
The Police and Crime Commissioner announced in September 2023 her plan to open 10 more police stations and front counters across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The Commissioner’s ambition is to ensure every district has a police station open to the public. In 2024, the PCC opened seven police stations.
The official opening date for Petersfield Police Station will be announced soon.
